Tom Hanks and Son Chet to Revive “Forrest Gump” in a New Musical Video

Tom Hanks and His Son’s Musical Tribute

Tom Hanks and his son, Evan, have joined forces to recreate Forrest Gump for a new musical video. Check it out below.

New Musical Release

The video accompanies the song “You Better Run,” which is the second single from their duet, “Something in the West,” also featuring Drew Arthur.

Evan reprises his father’s iconic role from the Oscar-winning film, recreating memorable moments like the famous opening scene on a bench, a running sequence, and a scene on a shrimp boat named “Jenny,” as showcased in the video.

At the end of the video, Tom is seen sitting on the bench with his son, covering his face with his hands in embarrassment before ultimately appearing to grasp the concept. Watch it below.

Journey to Musical Collaboration

Chet and Drew formed their musical partnership while living as neighbors in California, as they both embarked on their journeys toward sobriety.

Their friendship blossomed into musical collaboration, leading them to sign with the Big Machine Label in Nashville this February.

In the same month, they released their debut single, “Leaving Hollywood.” “We are thrilled to partner with Big Machine and Scott Borchetta,” Evan shared in the press release at that time.

“The support they provided for ‘Leaving Hollywood’ and our upcoming music has been incredible. Drew and I have been making music for a long time, and we’re proud to call Big Machine home for this project.”

This release follows the duo’s previous single, “White Boy Summer,” which was a playful take on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer” from 2019.

The controversial message of the song quickly morphed into extreme right rhetoric, adopted by various extremist groups worldwide.

Chet condemned any racist or extremist interpretations that his song may have inadvertently inspired, stating: “White Boy Summer is meant to be fun, lighthearted, and a celebration of white boys who love beautiful queens of every race. I reject any distortion of that message to support hatred or fanaticism against any group.”

Additionally, last May, Evan recounted a humorous exchange where his father texted him to explain the ongoing rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

Tom Hanks asked his son, “Big Master, can you explain the Drake/Kendrick Lamar feud?” to which Evan responded with an in-depth text, summarizing the situation and expressing his belief that Kendrick Lamar emerged as the winner of the rivalry.
