This announcement follows months of teasing a new record with his fans. Recently, he dropped tracks through an independent release, including “Hello Heaven” and “UNPOGETICE Seconde Lovingick Lullaby.”

Recorded in his hometown of Lids, “Idols” serves as the first part of the long-awaited double album and is hailed as Yungblud’s “most ambitious” release to date. Featuring 12 songs, its production location was deliberately chosen to minimize distractions.

“I wanted to create a project that did not focus on the single or anything other than emotions and worldbuilding … A project without limitations,” he explained, adding that the release contemplates our intrinsic need for validation.

“We often look to others for identity before we even connect with ourselves. Self-confidence, self-promotion, self-evolution, and change,” he shared. “As we grow, we tend to lose faith in magic and mystery, rationalizing everything; our walls become constricting.”

“We compare ourselves to 15 different people even before breakfast tomorrow,” he remarked, describing the album as “a love letter to self-promotion, rock music, and life; overall, it’s just pure madness.”

In “Idols,” Yungblud collaborates with guitarist Adam Warrington and producers Matti Schwartz and Bob Bradley. Check out the album’s work above, and see the complete tracklist below.

Last year, Yungblud revealed to NME that the release would be structured as a double entry titled “Damn Interference.” In December, he also mentioned that the project would revolve around “self-love and self-promotion, allowing people to feel and radiate this light.”

“I created a double album Rock Opera with no limitations on imagination,” he stated. “This is a full rock album. I experimented, traveled through different styles, and loved every minute … (but) what did I envision when I was nine years old? To create an album like this. This is a tribute to British Rock ‘N’ Roll Music.”

“Idols” continues the legacy of his 2022 album of the same name. In another interview in March last year, Harrison hinted that the upcoming project would be inspired by Britpop legends. “There’s this gut feeling when you listen to Oasis, The Verve, Bowie, Suede, or Madonna,” he mentioned to NME. “It gives me the strength to rise up each day. It makes me feel invincible, and that I can achieve anything—that’s the essence of this new album.”

Taking to social media earlier this year, he reiterated that he has “never felt more clear and proud of everything he has achieved.”

While Yungblud has officially released “Hello Heaven, Hello” and “Lovingick Lullaby,” he performed some new material from “Idols” at an intimate concert in London’s SCALA in March. He also shared that his upcoming song “Zombie” addresses body dysmorphia and celebrated the new material by engaging with fans at his favorite London pub, The Hawley Arms.

This summer, Harrison will host the second edition of his own festival, Bludfest, at Milton Keynes Bowl. He will curate the event alongside acts like Chase Atlantic, Denzel Curry, Black Broth, and former NME cover stars Rachel Chonovori and Persik. You can click here for remaining tickets.
