Youth Lagoon Unveils New Track “Gumshoe (Dracula from Arkansas)” Ahead of Upcoming Album

New Track Release and Album Announcement

Youth Lagoon has released a new track titled “Gumshoe (Dracula from Arkansas)” alongside an announcement regarding the dates for their UK and European tour in support of the upcoming album “Rely Do Do Dream.”

Musical Inspiration and Reflection

“Someone said that my music makes them feel like they died in the forest, and I honestly never heard a better compliment,” shares Trevor Powers. “I don’t think I have a song that fits this description better than Gumshoe. I typically write from a place of pure love, delirium, or just to purge my demons, and this track embodies all three… It might be the closest I’ve come to seeking real freedom in music.”

Powers elaborates on the inspiration behind the track: “This is a love letter to my childhood in a small town during the 1990s, combining fragments of memory and weaving them into a modern folk style. I was raised in a house bustling with siblings, where chaos and mischief were part of everyday life. Our world was exactly what we made it, and I don’t think that will ever change for me.”

The album “Rare I Dream” features a mix of home recordings, strumming guitars, synthesizers, bright piano melodies, and explosive drums. Powers came across a collection of home videos in his parents’ basement that significantly influenced the album’s creation. “When I took the cassette home and pressed play, it was my brother Bobby and me at the state fair. I was four years old, savoring a corn dog,” he reminisces. “If anything captures life in a snapshot, it’s that moment.”
