Wu Lyf Returns with New Music
Wu Lyf is back, having released a new single along with the announcement of a series of tour dates – check out the specifics below.
The Manchester indie band confirmed their reunion with an update on their website, unveiling a brand new single and revealing plans to tour across the UK and Europe toward the end of this year.
This revelation follows earlier speculations from fans at the beginning of the year, who hinted that a reunion was in the works. According to Stereogum, one fan on Reddit reported receiving a postcard from the band directing them to Worldunite.org. Upon visiting the site, they discovered a mysterious clock counting down to April 2.
The news of this reunion follows the breakup of “Lost Under Heaven,” a band formed by frontman Elleri Roberts after Wu Lyf split in 2012. They announced their disbandment with a farewell single titled “Creation Song.”
A new six-minute single, accompanied by a post on Instagram indicating its title as “New Life,” has now appeared on the Wu Lyf website.
The new track features a ethereal blend of sounds reminiscent of their earlier style, gradually building into an indie epic inspired by the 2000s, echoing the elements that initially garnered the band a devoted following.
“All funny people” Roberts sings with a soft, melancholic tone as the song crescendos with rich instrumental layers. “Turning in a hurry, there is not enough air.”

Earlier this week, the group teased a new post on their Instagram page, featuring a black and white snippet of a musical machine gun in Manchester, alongside a sandwich with their logo scattered throughout the city. Check out the posts below.

Formed in the summer of 2008, the band took their name from the World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation. They released their debut album, “Go Tell Fire to the Mountain,” in June 2011.
During their time as a group, members Elleri Roberts, Evans Katya, Tom McClung, and Joe Manning attracted a large cult following, including fans like Johnny Marr.
In 2012, they began hinting at new material before ultimately deciding to disband. They confirmed their split on stage at Manchester’s HMV Ritz, where the frontman expressed to the crowd, “Goodbye Forever.”
“We all knew it wasn’t working,” said drummer Joe Manning in an interview with NME in April 2013. “There’s no explanation for it. A million reasons contribute, but ultimately, it just didn’t work. No one’s trying to hide anything. If it’s not working, it’ll eventually break.”
In addition to Elleri, who formed the side project “Lost Under Heaven,” Manning, McClung, and Evans Katya went on to create music as part of Los Porcos along with three members of the band Famy.
