We, Scientists, Announce Our Ninth Album: ‘Qualification Miles’

New Album Announcement

We Are Scientists has announced their ninth studio album ‘Qualification Miles’, scheduled for release on July 18 via Groenland Records. The New York duo also unveiled a new single titled “Please Do Not Say It.”

Musical Roots and Themes

The latest release sees founders Kit Murray and Chris Cain returning to their musical roots, blending elements of 90s guitar music with their signature mix of dance hooks and clever lyrics.

“I always enjoy expressing all kinds of drama in a song; just don’t force me to discuss it personally, okay?” Murray reflects on the new single. “’Please Do Not Say It’ is, I think, a song about not wanting to confront my failures anywhere except in this song. Now, I’m talking about using the song as a way to avoid talking about it. Strange,” he adds.

Regarding the accompanying video, Murray shares: “Do you know that we haven’t explored enough video interpretation in our many years? It’s foggy. We’re unrestricted on city streets, riding horses through the Irish marshes, and our eyes have dug deep. However, the cinematographers of these videos never had much to study; there was a good enthusiasm in the connection.”

“Qualification Miles” follows their independent albums “Huffy” and “Lobes.” Murray elaborates on their writing process: “For us, the writing process today is just about creating, whether it’s terrible songs, sincere songs, or silly songs, whatever. It’s a humorous process, but it seems difficult to finalize and challenging to put in the hard work necessary for a real album.”
