Paul McCartney’s Return to SNL
Paul McCartney made a comeback on Saturday Night Live (SNL) during the show’s 50th anniversary episode, delivering a selection of songs from The Beatles’ “Abbey Road”.
Memorable Performances
This performance was McCartney’s fifth appearance as a musical guest on the longstanding sketch comedy show and his first since 2012. He showcased three iconic tracks from the legendary album: “Golden Slumbers,” “Carry That Weight,” and “The End.”
McCartney kicked off the set on the piano with “Golden Slumbers,” transitioned into “Carry That Weight,” and concluded with a lively rendition of “The End,” where he switched to an electric guitar while the audience joined in with rhythmic clapping.
The evening also featured additional performances by various artists, such as Miley Cyrus and Lil Wayne. Sabrina Carpenter and Paul Simon opened the show with “Homeward Bound,” a song Simon had performed on SNL alongside George Harrison in 1976.
McCartney’s previous musical appearances on SNL were in 1980, 1993, 2010, and 2012, along with other performances in venues like Camelot in 2006, 2013, and 2015.
Recently, the musician expressed his intentions for new music, stating: “I have been working on many songs, but I had to set them aside for the tour. I hope to return to this and finish a lot of these tracks. So, what’s my New Year’s resolution? To complete the new album!”
