Miley Cyrus and Brittani Howard delivered a heartfelt rendition of Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” during the SNL50 Live Special. This followed their earlier collaboration at the HomeCombing Homecoming SNL50 concert, where they paid homage to Queen.
A Tribute to Sinead O’Connor
The performance highlighted by Aubrey Plaza’s first public appearance of 2025 marked another significant moment in the evening’s celebration. The song choice held special significance in SNL’s history, echoing O’Connor’s unforgettable 1992 appearance on the show.
SNL creator Lorne Michaels reflected on O’Connor’s historic performance during “Dame and gentlemen… 50 years of SNL music,” stating, “Some of me just admired the courage of what she did, as well as the absolute sincerity of this.” He addressed the common misconceptions about O’Connor being banned from the show, adding, “We are too rude and opportunistic. If anything is hot, we will go to this and turn it on.”
Joining the celebration were Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter, who performed “Homeward Bound,” alongside appearances from Eddie Murphy, Tracy Morgan, Pedro Pascal, and Bad Bunny.
