Lauren Maiberry’s American Tour Begins

Lauren Maiberry began his American tour to San Diego this week with the cover of a “bitter sweet symphony” of weapons – see below.

Upcoming Tour Dates and Performances

Over the next five weeks, the CHVRCHES vocalist holds a 24-day tour of North America and launched it on Tuesday (January 28) with a show in House of Blues in San Diego. See the full list of dates for the North American tour and find the remaining tickets here.

At the end of her main set, she played a delicate version of Richard Ashcroft’s hit. On the central stage, when a full group appears, they allowed her vocals to soar through the trademark “Have you ever been down?” chorus.

Later, in 2025, Mayberry will perform six shows across Great Britain, starting with a concert in her hometown at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on March 20.

Dates in Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds will follow before the tour concludes in the London Empire at the Bush Polish on March 26. Find tickets for these shows here.

Solo Career Reflections

Mayberry has made a habit of performing cover versions during her solo shows in recent years. Previous choices have included “Luftbolla,” “Personal Jesus” by Depeche Mode, and “Viva Forever” by the Spice Girls in London.

She also debuted on American television last month on Jimmy Kimmel, performing “Something in the Air” from her debut album “Vicious Creature.” In a three-star review of the album, NME wrote: “With ‘Vicious Creature,’ Maiberry attempts to explore everything that she ‘cannot or did not write in the group,’” as she shared with NME.

“In this safe space, it uncovers a spectrum of previously unexplored emotions with the freedom to play outside the electronic sound of CHVRCHES.”

Reflecting on her solo journey after a decade with her main group, Mayberry told NME in 2023: “For any front-woman in a band, especially women, the moment you say the words ‘solo material,’ people are very quick to worry that you are breaking up the group. I feel that every second sentence: ‘I’m not breaking up the band, guys, but…’”

“We were fortunate that fans were so understanding that they were not concerned about a breakup. I feel gratitude, but I try to reassure them: ‘Just give us a couple of years, guys, everything will be fine.’ The last group album released was ‘Screen Violence’ in 2021.
