Night of Stars

Last night (January 30), a star-studded concert was held at the KIA Forum. This event was organized to provide financial support to the victims of the devastating forest fires in Los Angeles.

One of the most memorable moments of the night was the legendary singer-songwriter’s moving performance of “Both Sides Now.” At 81 years old, she sat gracefully on a golden throne as she performed this classic from her 1969 album “Clouds.”

Other Highlights of the Night

Mitchell’s appearance comes after she has performed live only a few times in recent years. Her latest show was the Joni Jam, her first headlining concert in Los Angeles in 24 years, where she performed rare tracks that hadn’t been played live in decades.

Prior to that, she delivered a heartfelt set at the 2024 Grammy Awards, receiving accolades from the audience.

Other notable performances of the night included Billie Eilish and Green Day, who united for an energetic rendition of “Last Night on Earth,” as well as reunions to play some of their greatest hits.

Additionally, the evening featured performances from Lady Gaga, Rod Stewart, Katy Perry, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gracie Abrams, Olivia Rodrigo, and Peso Pluma, with U2 confirming a generous donation of $1 million USD ($804,829 GBP).

A major highlight was the surprise reunion of surviving members of Nirvana, who were joined by St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, and Dave Grohl’s daughter, Violet, on vocals.

In other news, in 2023, Cameron Crowe, renowned director of Almost Famous, announced he would be directing a biographical film about Mitchell’s life and career. The film has been in development for several years, with collaboration ongoing for at least two of those years.

Last October, Crowe provided an optimistic update about the project’s status, expressing his hopes to complete it by Christmas 2025.

It was previously reported that Meryl Streep, a close friend of Mitchell, was in talks to portray the older version of the iconic singer-songwriter, although neither Crowe, Streep, nor Mitchell has confirmed the casting.
