Watch Eddie Vedder and Jack White Perform Nile Rodgers’ “Rokin” in Tokyo

Surprise Performance at Tokyo Show

Fans at the Tokyo show featuring Jack White were taken aback when Eddie Vedder appeared on stage to perform a cover of “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Check this out below.

Memorable Moments During the Concert

The unexpected moment unfolded last night (March 15) at the Toyosu Pit in Tokyo. White concluded his set, which included “hypnotizing” tracks from The White Stripes and “Seven Nation Army,” with a classic tune, when Vedder suddenly joined him for the first chorus.

The Pearl Jam frontman even playfully modified the lyrics, stating: “There is only one Jack White.” See this performance below.

This follows White’s illuminating solo performance during his appearance on Saturday Night Live last month, celebrating his 50th anniversary concert.

The musician will wrap up the Japanese leg of his tour tomorrow (March 17) with another show in Tokyo before heading back to North America for additional dates. The tour kicks off in St. Louis on April 3, with stops in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, and more. You can find the full list of dates and any remaining tickets here.

The tour comes on the heels of the unexpected release of White’s latest album “No Name” in August. The album received a four-star review from NME, with Andrew Trendell writing: “This is an ode to the mysticism of rock ‘n’ roll and the joy of music in its most physical and playful form.”

“Anticipation doesn’t always lead to satisfaction. Just dive into the chase, and it’s a thrilling ride. White revels in the real world and makes it a far more exciting place.”

In other news, The White Stripes have recently announced a reissue to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their fifth album “Get Behind Me Satan,” featuring demos, written songs, and alternative studio and live versions.

As for Vedder, Pearl Jam has announced a U.S. tour in 2025 in support of their new album “Dark Matter,” kicking off in Florida on April 24. Find out more details here.
