Dave Grol’s Surprise Performance at Coachella
Dave Grol made a surprise appearance over the weekend at Coachella, performing “Everlong” and “The Sky is the Limit” alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Check this out below.
Highlights from Gustavo Dudamel’s Performance
Yesterday, the notable moment unfolded during Gustavo Dudamel’s performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (April 19), which marked the culmination of his 17-year tenure as conductor before he transitions to lead the New York Philharmonic next year.
The celebration featured a wealth of unexpected guests, including Cynthia Erivo, who joined for a rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” alongside performers Lauphi, Natasha Bedingfield, and Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso.
At one point, Grol thrilled the audience when he took the stage to perform the Foo Fighters’ songs “The Sky is the Limit” and “Everlong,” supported by the orchestra.

This marks Grol’s first performance of Foo Fighters’ songs since last summer, when he conveyed that he “recently became the father of a new baby daughter born outside my marriage.” He further expressed, “I love my wife and my children, and I am doing my best to rebuild their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
Following this announcement, the group canceled their planned headlining slot at the Soundside music festival. Currently, Foo Fighters have no upcoming live dates scheduled.
After the news of Grol’s new daughter emerged, his representatives denied the viral claims of “child love” circulating on social media, where an Instagram user claimed to be the child’s mother.
Meanwhile, he reunited with Nirvana for an unexpected performance at the Fireaid Benefit concert, where they shared the stage with St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, and Grol’s daughter Violet, delivering a selection of greatest hits.
Later, he collaborated again with his former bandmates, this time with Post Malone, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live.
On different weekends, during Coachella Weekend AG, AG Cook invited Kesha as a special guest for “Yippee Ki Yay,” while Lady Gaga faced technical difficulties but cleverly turned it into a joke with fans about singing live.
Billy Joe Armstrong from Green Day also made an unexpected appearance during their slot, seemingly quelling rumors about tension between them and Charlie after fans expressed concerns on social media.
In another setting, the group’s knee cup led to the “Free Palestine” expression during their set after the trio was reduced from the weekend’s lineup.
Other artists on the lineup include Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, along with solo performances from Blackpink’s Lisa and Jennie, Benson Boone, the original Misfits, Zedd, The Prodigy, Beabadobee, Clairo, Enhypen, and more.
YouTube will broadcast the festival on the Coachella YouTube Channel. Visit the page to catch our latest Coachella updates.
