Billy Joel invited legendary drummer Jason Bonham to perform Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” at his New Year’s Eve concert – watch the performance below.

New Year’s Eve concert highlights

For his final show of the year, Billy Joel performed at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York on New Year’s Eve (December 31). To mark the special occasion, Joel was joined on stage by Jason Bonham – son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham – to perform “Whole Lotta Love.”

The performance took place in the middle of Billy Joel’s set. Jason Bonham’s band – Led Zeppelin Evening Jason Bonham performed earlier in the evening to open the show.

“We’re going to have a guest on stage and perform the next song,” Joel told the audience. “We have fun playing this, especially with this guy. Please welcome Jason Bonham. You all know this song. This is not a piano song.”

Additional performances and milestones

Elsewhere during the show, Joel regaled fans with his classic hits, including “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant,” “The Pianist,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” “Uptown Girl,” and many more. He also performed a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Start Me Up,” and at midnight – after kissing his wife on stage – he opened the new year with the song “Auld Lang Syne.”

2024 was a special year for Billy Joel. In July, he completed his historic ten-year monthly residency at Madison Square Garden, which consisted of 150 sold-out concerts. He also released his first new single since 2007, “Turn The Lights Back On.” He debuted the song at the Grammy Awards in February but dropped it from his concert repertoire in July.
