Gibbons’ Historic Return to Coachella
On Saturday (April 12), Gibbons took to the Gobi stage at Coachella for her first solo performance at the festival, marking her first appearance since Portishead last performed there in 2008.
To commemorate this special event, Gibbons honored the iconic Bristol band by playing their timeless track “Glory Box” from 1994 at the conclusion of her set. This marked the second time she performed the song without interruption.

During her 10-song set, Gibbons played most tracks from her debut solo album “Lives Tursgron”. Besides “Glory Box,” the only other song not from “Grown Life” was her 2002 collaboration with Rustin Man, “Tom the Model.”

Gibbons is currently on her debut solo tour in North America, marking her first performances since the 2011 Portishead tour. The tour supports her debut solo album “Lives Turning.”
In a four-star review of the album, NME noted: “On ‘Grown Life,’ Gibbons narrates with her distinctive style. She transcends the heavy gravity of her vocals at every turn, holding our attention while simultaneously undermining our sense of security, constantly pointing out the imperfections that lie beneath.” The album also ranked 26th in NME‘s list of the 50 best albums of 2024.
In other news, Gibbons announced a performance at the Roundhouse in London, scheduled for this weekend at Glastonbury 2025, and is also set to appear at the 2025 Flow Festival.
