About the Upcoming Album
The single was originally released back in November when the Geordie singer, songwriter, and guitarist announced his upcoming album of the same name. The record is set to arrive on February 21, 2025, through Polydor, and you can order it here.
Now, following the release of two other singles—”Wild Long Lie” and “Arm’s Length”—Fender has shared the long-awaited music video for the title track, featuring Andrew Scott in a leading role.
Scott’s appearance in the visual accompaniment comes after being awarded the BAFTA and Laurence Olivier awards, and after his noteworthy role in the limited Netflix series nominated for an Emmy, Ripley; and the West End production of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.
Speaking about his experience working with Fender on the music video, Scott described the track as a “masterpiece” and expressed his admiration for the musician.
“Sam’s masterpiece has become a real friend for me,” he stated. “Working on this was a full catharsis, and I will always be grateful to Sam for his extraordinary talent, as well as to all the artists involved in creating this film, and of course, my mother, whom I will keep in my heart until the day I die.”

Discussing how their collaboration came to be, Fender recalled his excitement when he discovered that the actor wanted to work with him. “I am very glad that the video ‘People Watch’ is going out to the world this week,” he said. “I was so buzzing when I found out that Andrew wanted to participate—I have been a big fan of his, and he was absolutely perfect for this role.”
The video, directed by Stuart McIntyre in Long Beach, California, sees the Dublin-born actor portray the heartbreaking emotions of lost love captured on the highway. Check it out above.
Upcoming Performances and Album Details
The video release comes just a few days after it was confirmed that Fender will perform at the 2025 BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend. The festival, held in Sefton Park, Liverpool, from May 23 to May 25, will also feature performances from Blossoms, Lola Young, Wet Leg, and BRITs Rising Star Sam Smith.
As for his upcoming album “People Watching,” this will be Fender’s first LP since his second album, “Seventeen Going Under,” released in 2021. He has been teasing the album since March 2024, sharing details about the personnel, producers, engineers, and other musicians who contributed in the studio.
In November of last year, the singer also announced details about some huge stadium shows in the UK set for the summer, including his largest headline show in the history of London Stadium on June 6.
After the London show, he will return to Newcastle for three performances at St. James’ Park on June 12, 14, and 15. This marks his first return to the venue, which holds 52,000 people, since 2023, and will also see him break the record for the most headlined shows previously held by The Rolling Stones.
You can find a complete list of 2025 tour dates here, and visit here for remaining tickets to all upcoming shows. For the upcoming British dates, £1 from each ticket will be donated to the Music Service Trust.
In other news, Sam Fender was recently nominated for two Brit Awards, including Artist of the Year, and he has partnered with Newcastle United for an auction benefiting charity.
