Produced by James Monkeys, the EP, featuring three tracks, is set to release on March 14 through a transgressive Here. The first project teaser includes the track “Love is all pain.”

About the Track and Music Video

Oh! Love is all the pain / I thought that I fled it / but I need it again / it's difficult, it’s hard / it's more complicated than hell” sings a duet featuring guitarist Graham Coxson and Pipetok member Rose Elinor Dugall, portraying the emotional responses to love over pulsating electronics.

Director Simon Leader filmed the music video entirely in black and white 8-mm, capturing the aesthetics of the synthesizer era reminiscent of the late 1980s. He shot Waeve around Lake Soutmir in Thamism, South-East London, specifically at the famed Bralyist estate.

In an interview with NME, Dagall explained how their “LP City Lights” reflects their family life and its “horrors”: “It’s still a miracle that this project and our shared life happened at all – all because of this tiny show we decided to do (in 2004 at Islington’s The Buffalo Bar). If any of us had chosen not to do this, then nothing would exist.”

“Sometimes the fragility of how everything happens can be a little frightening. It’s so easy for these things to never materialize. It’s hard not to think there’s some higher power guiding the trajectory of our lives.”

She also discussed her love for her daughter Eliza May and the challenges of motherhood, stating: “We put her name into the world, and I obviously protect her, but I had a significant internal debate about whether this was what I wanted to share in our music. Ignoring it wasn’t an option because Waeve has always been about reflecting on our life experiences.”

She continued: “Shining a light on the experience of motherhood is crucial. It has profoundly impacted how I see myself and the music creation process. Eliza plays a huge role in our life, and I couldn’t fathom how to overlook that. I hope she likes it when she’s older. I can only imagine her reaction: ‘What kind of rubbish is this?’
