The penultimate group of rising talent takes center stage as part of MBW’s annual partnership with Vevo DSCVR’s list of artists to watch…
Tova Bird
David McTiernan, Head of Artist and Label Relations: “Towa Bird is everything we want and need in a Gen Z rock star – sassy, sensitive, funny and confident, not to mention she’s absolutely awesome on the guitar.
“She’s been the (maybe not so) secret weapon supporting Renee Rapp and Olivia Rodrigo over the past couple of years, and I’m so excited to show an audience of new fans what she can do when she steps into the spotlight. American Hero is one of my favorite albums of the year and I can’t wait to see how Towa continues to destroy it in 2025.”
Lucky Love
Liva Corvo, music and talent manager, France: “Meeting Lucky Love and his group of vocalists was truly a special moment on a personal level. He brings refreshing energy to the French music scene with his style of ballads and dance-pop that reflects his vibrant and uplifting personality.
“His sound is an ode to joy – inspiring, resonant and transcending boundaries. As a singer, dancer and model, Lucky Love has a unique charisma and talent, and I can’t wait to see what 2025 brings.”
Lucky Love: “I’m so glad to have been recognized as one of Vevo’s Artists to Watch, it was definitely a milestone I wanted to achieve. We had a lot of fun filming DSCVR’s live performances and I’m very proud to release these beautiful performances alongside my debut album. Shout out to the Vevo team, without whom none of this would have been possible.”
Wisp
James Mecker, Senior Manager of Music Programming: “Music should always be in conversation with its past, and with that in mind, Wisp represents everything that makes this art form so fun in the way it uses shoegaze, a beloved analogue subgenre from the 90s, and recontextualizes it in our digital 21st century, bridging the gap between generations and showing that some things will always be universal.
“I’m listening to her 6-track EP. Pandora this year struck me with memories of being a moody teenager, dressed all in black in the summer and turning up the reverb to drown out everything else. Why do we listen to music if not to be transported to memories like these?”
Wisp: “It didn’t really hit me until after filming, just because during filming I was so caught up in all the fun and how cool everything seemed to me. But I am incredibly happy that I had the opportunity to participate in Vevo DSCVR. I grew up watching rock/alternative bands on radio shows or on TV channels that specifically catered to those genres. So for me to play nugaze’s music on a platform designed for all artists to shine is something special. I’m glad I was able to represent this significant part of myself.”
