Blondi drummer Klem Berk has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
The iconic sticksman was a founding member of the group and was described today as the heartbeat of Blondie by frontman Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein.

In a heartfelt statement on social media, the duo shared: “With profound sadness, we relay the news of our dear friend and bandmate, Clement Burk, who fought a private battle with cancer. Clem was not just a drummer; he was the heartbeat of Blondie.
“His extraordinary talent, vibrant energy, and passion for music were unparalleled, and his contributions to our sound and success are immeasurable. Beyond his musical abilities, Clement inspired us all, both on and off the stage. His bright spirit, infectious enthusiasm, and outstanding work ethic touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.”
Furthermore, they reflected on his self-proclaimed status as a “rock-n-roll survivor,” having played and collaborated with numerous iconic artists, including Eurythmics, Ramones, Bob Dylan, Bob Geldof, Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, and many more. “His influence and contributions spanned decades and genres, leaving an indelible mark on every project he touched.”
The group added, “We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Clem around the world. His legacy will live on through the vast amount of music he created and the countless lives he affected. During this time of profound loss, we ask for privacy. Godspeed, Dr. Burke.”
