Tom York Hints at Upcoming Mark Prechard Collaboration “In the Game”

Tom York Teases New Collaboration

Tom York has hinted at an exciting new release with Mark Brechard titled “Back in the Game.”

New Music Debut

The Radiohead frontman showcased a new song during his recent solo tour in Kraistchcher, New Zealand, in October. Check out the performance footage below.

It is believed that this track is part of a full-length collaborative album on which York has been working with Australian producer Mark Brechard. Both artists have recently shared teasers indicating that the track may be released on Thursday, February 13.

On Friday, February 7, York shared an enigmatic abstract clip on Instagram, featuring a short loop of pulsating, horror-themed music. Brechard also posted the same clip along with the message: “Back in the Game. 13.02.25.”

Upcoming Projects and Future of Radiohead

York and Pritchard have collaborated multiple times before, starting with the remix of Radiohead’s “Bloom.”

This will mark Yorke’s first major release since “Cutouts,” the latest album from The Smile, a band he formed with Johnny Greenwood and drummer Tom Skinner. NME awarded the LP a four-star review, describing it as a group that appears to derive more pleasure than ever.

“The Smile seems to be an experimental endeavor unencumbered by the pressures often associated with York and Greenwood’s previous work, and ‘cutouts’ undoubtedly enrich this perspective,” the review noted. “Featuring the London Contemporary Orchestra, the album was recorded in Oxford and Abbey Road Studios, yet this is a more liberated, playful collection compared to its predecessor.”

Last year, York made headlines when he stated he was “not really fussed” about fans wanting a Radiohead reunion. In an Australian interview with Double J, he expressed uncertainty regarding the band’s future, saying: “I don’t know about it, and I honestly don’t let it run my life.”

“No one is upset with anyone, and there is no mistake. Thank you for your concern,” he added. “However, I believe we have earned the right to do what makes sense for us without feeling the need to explain ourselves or to respond to anyone’s historical expectations of what we should be doing.”

This statement followed bassist Colin Greenwood’s comments to NME about rehearsals for a potential reunion during the summer.

Previously, Johnny Greenwood conveyed to NME that the rehearsals were “fun and natural,” while also noting there are “no plans” for anything Radiohead-related in 2025 as the members focus on “individual projects.”
