This record marks the second studio album from the Newquay indie band, Wunderhorse, following up on their 2022 release, Cub. It was launched in August through Communion Group and produced by Craig Silvey (The Rolling Stones), reaching number six on the UK Albums Chart.

Recent Challenges

In a four-star review of the album, NME stated: “Although this is supposed to be a second album, ‘Midas’ feels like a new beginning for a band that has found its way as a true team. It may only be their second album, but it looks like Wunderhorse’s business will continue to thrive.”

Meanwhile, Smith faced an unfortunate incident right before Christmas when four of his band’s guitars, along with pedals, a laptop, an amp, and essential medication, were stolen from their van at a service station.

They were en route to London to participate in a live session on Radio X with JFK on December 20 when the theft occurred. Smith expressed his devastation, especially since one of the guitars was a gift from his grandfather when he was just six years old.

Smith’s father subsequently initiated a GoFundMe campaign aimed at raising funds to replace the stolen equipment, successfully surpassing the £8,000 goal. As of now, the campaign has attracted over £12,000 from 394 donations. You can view the page here.

Later this month, Smith is set to embark on a tour with Girlband!. The tour will kick off at York’s The Fulford Arms on January 23, followed by stops in Huddersfield, Lancaster, Hull, Brighton, Southampton, and Birkenhead, concluding at Norwich Arts Center on February 7.
