These New Puritans Reveal Upcoming Album “Crooked Wing” Featuring Caroline Polachek

Album Announcement

These New Puritans have announced their fifth album, ‘Crooked Wing’, set for release on May 23 via Domino.

Recent Single Release

The Essex duo previously teased the album with a double A-side single featuring ‘Bells’ / ‘Industrial Love Song’. The latter includes a guest appearance from Caroline Polachek. These tracks are accompanied by music videos for “Industrial Love Song,” directed by Harley Weir in collaboration with the band.

“An industrial love song tells the story of a duet between two cranes at a construction site,” explains Jack Barnett. “Caroline sings one part, and I sing another; they cannot touch (their movements are controlled by the operator), but as the sun rises, they hope their shadows will cross. I appreciate how George’s title brought forth expectations of a mistake – it’s not as industrial as it sounds.”

On the track “Bells,” Jack notes: “This song originated from a field recording we made of a bell at a small Orthodox Greek Church. The bell can be heard throughout the song, and everything else grew from that moment. The sound of the bell strike put most of the album in motion.”
