Film Details and Release Date
Last year, it was reported that the singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, was collaborating on a film with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. Until last month, the film remained untitled, but Deadline disclosed that the film will be named “Hurry Up Tomorrow” and serve as a “sequel” to his sixth album of the same name.
Today (December 20), Tesfaye announced through his official X/Twitter account that the film is scheduled for release on May 16, 2025. As per Deadline’s report, the movie, directed by Trey Edward Schultz, will feature the Starboy singer in a psychological thriller, distributed by Lionsgate.

Upcoming Album and Performances
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chairman Adam Fogelson stated to Deadline: “Abel is a seer whose art cannot be limited to any one medium. A collaboration with Trey, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ expands his musical universe onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will give fans a new cinematic experience. We are thrilled to bring it to audiences around the world.”
Moreover, it has been reported that Tesfaye collaborated with Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never) on the film’s score, after they worked together on 2022’s Dawn FM, where Lopatin remixed the album’s title track.
Scheduled for release on January 24, 2025, Hurry Up Tomorrow will complete the singer’s Blinding Lights album trilogy, which began with 2020’s After Hours and continued with Dawn FM.
The musician shared teasers for the album, including his previous collaboration with Playboi Carti, “Timeless,” co-produced by Pharrell, as well as a new track titled “Dancing In The Flames,” released last September. He has also teased various unreleased songs like “Wake Me Up,” “Take Me Back To LA,” and “Open Hearts.”
Tesfaye revealed the album cover on social media, showcasing a close-up shot of his face, which is a departure from the facial prosthetics seen during the After Hours era.
