The Corner Corner Details
The new space, dubbed the Corner Corner, will be located in an area currently occupied by a shopping center in the Surrey embankments of Rotherhithe, featuring a capacity of 2,000.
Standard reported that the Southwark Council Planning Committee approved the venue’s plans during a meeting on February 5. The proposal was introduced by British Land developers, in collaboration with a Blum, who indicated that they hope to have the space ready by spring 2025.
The Corner Corner will occupy 50,000 square feet along the dock in Canada Water, serving as a “cultural center” featuring “collaborative workspaces, live music, as well as food and beverages.” Additionally, it will house London’s “largest inner-city vertical farm,” with produce used in meals throughout the venue.

The venue will feature live music and DJ performances, with plans to operate until 3 a.m. on weekends, subject to licensing. However, British Land has stated that they do not intend to host regular late-night events.
In other news, Drumsheds has recently been allowed to remain open following licensing checks and crowd complaints, although new security measures have been indicated. The Tottenham venue was at risk of losing its license last year after a series of incidents.
A review of emergency licensing occurred following the death of a 27-year-old man at a Drumsheds event on October 12, believed to be drug-related (according to Standard). Additionally, a 29-year-old woman died in the hospital after attending the “Hydra” event at Drumsheds, also linked to drug use.
Meanwhile, Printworks appears to be making a comeback after its closure in May of last year. In 2022, the Southwark Council approved plans for redevelopment into an office block, but in September, the Night Time Industries Association reported that the venue had received consent for redevelopment planning.
