Theories About Jim Morrison’s Death
The new documentary explores the possibility that Jim Morrison, the iconic frontman of The Doors, may still be alive.
The rock legend was found dead in the bathtub of his Paris apartment by his friend Pamela Kurson on July 3, 1971. At the time, he was 27 years old, and the official cause of death was cited as heart failure.
However, conspiracy theories have long persisted, suggesting that he may have faked his own death due to disillusionment with fame and the attention his success brought him.
New Documentary Research
This intriguing topic is the focus of the documentary To the End, created by Doors superfan Jeff Finn. The film will delve into the “evidence” supporting theories that Morrison could still be alive, including one revolving around a person named Frank X, who works in maintenance in Syracuse, New York, with some believing he is actually a disguised Morrison.

Frank was photographed with Doors drummer John Densmore in 2013, and it was noted that he bore a striking physical resemblance to Morrison. It is also believed that he has revealed sharing many interests with Morrison, including the works of the French poet Charles Baudelaire.

Morrison’s Unconventional Death Circumstances
One reason the theories surrounding Morrison’s death have flourished is the absence of an autopsy. French law did not require one in the absence of foul play, which was not suspected at the time.
Last year, The Libertines revealed that they purchased the bathtub in which Morrison was found and installed it in their Margate hotel, The Albion Rooms.
Pete Dortorti explained: “There is a guy whom my wife’s cousin knows, and he was primarily a lessor. He has no interest in music and even less in musical mythology, so he simply kept this bathtub, which people tried to buy from him.”
“He does not want this. He thinks it is wrong to profit from such things. So, I said: ‘Well, we will take it for the hotel.’
In other news regarding The Doors, the building featured on the cover of their 1970 album, Morrison Hotel, suffered severe damage from a fire in downtown Los Angeles last December.
The rights to the group’s publishing catalog, master recordings, trademarks, and various merchandising options were sold last year to Primary Wave Music in what was described as a “monumental acquisition.”
