Upcoming Album Details

The track is the band’s latest release from their forthcoming album KOKO. This eagerly awaited follow-up to their debut UK number one album, 2023’s Anxiety Replace Therapy, is set to launch on March 21st via Modern Sky. Pre-order here.

Embracing a passionate and energetic vibe, the new single transforms into a bold, inspiring anthem that promotes the message of sustainability.

“They say you build it and they’ll come / But if they don’t, at least you built something / And we’re so good at demolition / That now we have nothing / We can’t stop it all from collapsing” frontman Tom Rylance sings as the song unfolds.

We are wild animals in a cage / And we are preparing to escape / We are scratching our nails on the walls / We are counting the days / In the hope that we will be saved

The single features contributions from Frank Turner, marking his third consecutive appearance on a Lottery Winners album.

“It’s become a tradition now to have Frank on our records, which is crazy to me because he’s truly one of my favorite artists on the planet,” Rylance commented. “When I wrote Mud and Gold, I knew it had to be Frank. No one else can sing the chorus like he can, with such ferocity while remaining melodic.”

Turner shared his excitement about collaborating on the track, saying: “Working with Lottery Winners has become one of my favorite musical traditions. Their energy, creativity, and pure enthusiasm are infectious – it’s impossible not to enjoy the process with them.”

“When Tom sent me Mud and Gold, I instantly knew I had to be involved. Their knack for crafting songs that are both heartfelt and anthemic is unparalleled, and it was an honor to help bring this tune to life,” he added.

“Lottery Winners are one of those bands that remind you why you fell in love with music initially. They perfectly blend humor, warmth, and genuine passion for what they do. It’s truly inspiring.”

The music video for the new single is set to premiere tonight (January 17) at 19:00 GMT and features two singers preparing for a boxing match at the historic Salford Lads Club.

Collaboration and Tour

Turner isn’t the only notable artist featured on the Manchester band’s upcoming album. The track listing also includes Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger (“Ragdoll”), Shed Seven (“The Ceiling”), and Reverend & The Makers (“You Again”).

As mentioned by the band members, the motto “Keep Carrying On” inspired the title of their forthcoming album “KOKO”.

Rylance recently told NME that the uplifting theme is “about the self-reflection and self-forgiveness that I went through while writing these songs.”

“I am a sensitive child and sometimes I have tantrums. I feel things deeply. But this allows me to write songs that resonate with people. That’s what matters,” he explained. On handling the pressure of creating a second number one album, he said: “Of course the pressure returned. Can we achieve this again? Do we want to? Yes, so we will do our best to create Lee’s second number one album.”

“Securing our first number one was validation that we had successfully entered the industry despite numerous challenges.”

He also reflected on how he managed to enlist Chad Kroeger for KOKO. “We supported (Nickelback) on tour,” he shared. “It was amusing to dislike Nickelback for so long, as they were the first internet meme band. Yet they continue to sell out arenas globally, and their journey inspires me because they too began from humble origins.”

The Lottery Winners are gearing up for their ‘Keep On Keeping On’ UK tour next month. Remaining tickets can be found here..
