Pebbled debut EP release
Pebbled has unveiled their inaugural EP “Four portraits of the same ugly house” today (January 31) via Recordch Records.
Musical influences and creation
This new assembly features four tracks from the Cork Band, crafted by Aidan O’Makhoni at Studios Kitten Lane and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Nick Cave, The Pixies). The EP weaves together elements of Shoegaze, Noise Rock, Dream Pop, and traditional Irish music.
“The EP reflects my experiences in Cork City, referred to as the ‘ugly house’ in the title,” the band shares. “This term represents a fondness for embracing imperfections that contribute to a space’s unique beauty. A house is where we feel safest and most free to express ourselves, and this ‘ugly’ aspect is what grants our music its charm, allowing for uninhibited creativity during writing and recording.”
The emotional journey
“The songs were created during a pivotal moment when music became my life’s primary focus. I drew from both positive and negative experiences, exploring the places and people that define me in this small city. These four tracks serve as profound portraits of significant moments and emotions. While many songs began in Cork, they evolved during a lengthy absence from home, capturing the sense of longing for friends and cherished spaces. The EP encapsulates a melancholic yet dynamic landscape of changing feelings I experienced during that time.”
“In some respects, these tracks delve into themes of love, but upon closer listening, they reveal my emotional depth, capturing a year filled with transformation and growth, all encapsulated in lyrically and musically rich songs that I hope resonate with listeners.”
