The Horrors Unveil New Bowie-Inspired Single ‘Lotus Eater’ Before Their Upcoming Sixth Album

Horror releases new single

Horror has unveiled a new track titled “Lotus Eater”, which is part of their forthcoming sixth album “Nightlife”.

Details about the upcoming album

This song serves as the third teaser for the album, set to drop on Fiction Records on March 21st. Throughout this period, the band has been enjoying sold-out performances across the UK, including a recent show at London’s ICA.

Commenting on the single, the band shares: “Lotus Eater has experienced several transformations. It was among the earliest tracks we were excited about during the Night Life sessions—Rhys’s original lyrics reminded me of David Bowie’s “5 Years”, which inspired me to build upon that concept.

“The Lotus Eater exists in a realm of blissful ignorance, and the song captures the moment of awakening to reality. We aimed to convey a feeling of both melancholy and euphoria, symbolizing the release of the past and the beginning of anew. The spoken word portion was created spontaneously in the studio, while the electronic segment was inspired by Amelia’s synth programming.

“It feels somewhat like a sister track to Sea Within a Sea, and it stands out as one of our favorite pieces on the new album.”

“Night Life” is significant as it marks the band’s approach toward their 20th anniversary, featuring a new lineup that includes vocalist Faris Badwan, bassist Rhys Webb, alongside Amelia Kidd on keyboards and Jordan Cook from Telegram on drums.
