The Grandson Unveils Third Album “Inertia” Alongside New Single “Brainrot”

Grandson’s New Album Release

grandson is set to release his third album ‘Inertia’ on September 5 through XX Records, alongside the debut of his new single ‘Brainrot.’

About ‘Brainrot’ Track

The latest track from the Los Angeles artist, produced by Mike Crossei (known for his work with “Killers,” “Twenty One Pilots,” and The 1975), marks his first solo release two years after contributing to the soundtrack of the film “Poison.” This song serves as the lead single, recorded entirely with live instruments.

“Brainrot reflects on the distractions of the Internet and how tech companies manipulate our time, hindering our ability to address urgent issues of our generation,” grandson explains. “The song was created with two of my closest friends in their East Hollywood apartment and produced and mixed by the legendary Mike Cross, who has worked on some of my favorite records. He elevated my artistic focus and quality control to levels I had never pursued before.”

The music video, directed by Joe Weil—who has previously collaborated with Kendrick Lamar, YG, A$AP Ferg, and 21 Savage—delves into the song’s theme through a lens of social commentary.

Focus of ‘Inertia’

‘Inertia’ highlights what grandson describes as “the increasing need for class solidarity, achievable through recognizing that regardless of political beliefs, people can gain from consolidating power among the many rather than the few.” The album features heavy riffs, rap elements, and catchy hooks, continuing the artist’s commitment to social commentary through music.

This summer, grandson will headline the Left Field Tent at the Glastonbury festival.
