Tributes to Casey Chaos

Tributes have been paid following the death of Amen frontman Casey Chaos, who has passed away at the age of 59.

Announcement and Memories

The singer’s death was announced in a statement by Brian Perera, founder of his record label Cleopatra Records, on December 21. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I offer my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Casey Chaos,” Perera wrote. “I had the honor of working with Casey during his unforgettable live performance with Christian Death at the American Legion Hall in 1993. Walking into the hall with my good friend Matt Green and my wife Yvonne was an experience I will never forget—especially seeing Nicolas Cage sitting in the center of the front row, completely captivated.”

“Casey wasn’t just an extraordinary musician—he truly lived and breathed the lifestyle,” he continued. “May he rest in peace with Rozz Williams and the many tortured souls we admire and respect.”

Numerous figures from the entertainment world paid tribute. “It is with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes that I must announce that we have lost another legend today,” said Amen bassist John Fahnestock.

“I lost two legendary frontmen in my career, and Casey passed away too. It was an absolute honor to attend Amen and, without a doubt, witness the genius that was Casey Chaos.”

“He was a force unlike anyone else before him, a true artist, an uncompromising soul, and a true punk rock icon! It’s hard for me. I’m sitting here and going through all the memories. I’m just speechless.”

“My heart was heavy today because we lost one of my brothers and our friend Casey Chaos. Rest in peace, my rock ‘n’ roll brother,” said TV host and DJ Matt Pinfield.

Journalist Sammy Jones added: “Very sad to hear the news about Casey Chaos. At one time, I gave him a couple of interviews, which turned into very long, sometimes deep conversations about life. Bright memories of him and his performances. Another lesson on how to count every day. Rest in peace, Casey.”

“Rest in peace, Casey Chaos,” added journalist John Duran. “His band Amen had a huge fight over cunnilingus while I was doing an interview with them, and they broke up right before my eyes. It was quite awkward, but I appreciated that they gave me credible things to write about.”

Amen have released four studio albums: their debut “Slave” in 1994, “Amen” in 1999, “We Have Come for Your Parents” in 2000, and “Death Before Musick” in 2004.

In 2001, they played for the seventh time on the NME tour with JJ72, Alfie, and Starsailor.

Throughout his career, Chaos also played in Christian Death and the black metal supergroup Scum.

In 2014, Amen returned to the studio to record a new album, but it was not completed in time and continued to perform at Knotfest in support of Slipknot. Chaos then resumed recording the album in late 2019, but it was halted again due to the COVID pandemic. The album remained unfinished.
