The Driver Era Unveils Gripping New Single “I Would Prefer to Die”

The Era of the Driver

The era of the driver has unveiled their latest single, “I Would Prefer to Die.” This track will serve as the concluding piece on their upcoming fourth studio album, ‘Obsession.’

Musical Style and Themes

The alt-pop duo, comprised of brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch, presents a minimalist sound characterized by layered vocals, accompanied by drums and piano. The song opens with jazz-influenced harmonic elements before transitioning into its main melody.

Ross explains, “This concept deals with obsession and habits, emphasizing the repeated refrain: ‘I know these things are harming me, but I’m not yet ready to let go, so I’ll set that aside for tomorrow.'” Rocky adds, “There’s a loop-like quality here, echoing the familiar narrative where everyone has their own cycle, which they can likely break by prioritizing action today rather than postponing it until tomorrow.”

The collection of songs that has formed this album was gathered over the past year.
