The Cause of Death Revealed
The cause of the death of young Scooter has been disclosed.
The rapper, whose real name was Kenneth Bailey, died on Friday (March 28) after leaving the police.
Atlanta’s police department stated in a press conference that the 39-year-old man died after injuring his leg on a fence while fleeing from the police in response to a 911 call at a residence on William Nayvv. He was transported to Grady Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The scooter was later identified as the deceased, according to Diversity.
Details Surrounding the Incident
According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office (via Independent), the cause of death was attributed to a “penetrating injury of the right thigh,” which resulted in severe blood loss.
The autopsy revealed that the rapper suffered the injury from a wooden part of the fence or debris. His death has been classified as an accident.
The Atlanta police department previously noted that officers responded to the 911 call regarding a “dispute with weapons,” with reports of shots being fired. It has been indicated that a woman was also “dragged into the location.”
“As soon as the officers arrived, they knocked on the door. The man opened the door and immediately closed it again,” added Lieutenant Andrew Smith. “During (the officers’) perimeter establishment, two men fled from the back of the house.”
“One man returned to the house, while the other jumped two fences as he ran. When the officers found him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have injured his leg,” he continued. “Officers assisted him, and he was transported to Grady Hospital, where he was declared dead.”
Smith clarified that the injury occurred while he was fleeing, not due to any action taken by the officers at the scene.
Following the confirmation of the rapper’s cause of death, the police issued a statement: “While we understand that many are saddened by his passing, it is important to clarify that the Atlanta police did not discharge their firearms nor use any force against Bailey.”
