Details About the Upcoming Album
Released today (February 18), the track marks the final preliminary viewing of the upcoming third album of the Okopot group.
This follows from the previously released songs “I can’t pretend what they know”, “Words of lost meanings”, “Love for the country” and “fall”.
With the last lp teaser, the group uses a more carefree, laid-back approach. This includes frontman James McGovern and Co. hitting melodies and drawing inspiration from literature.
“I wrote a text for this in Transit in one of the many inspiring stops during a tour in the UK. I listened to a podcast called Poetry is unrelated about the poem by Margaret Atwood ‘All Bread’ and felt a desire to write,” the singer explained in a new statement.
“I knew that I wanted the music to be naive and untouched, very similar to true love itself, so I and IRV (Damien ‘Irv’ Tute, guitarist) stood near the hall in Liverpool that evening. I asked him to play two chords back and forth.”
He continued: “Everything gathered in an instant with some added talent from Irva, and at that moment the distance between my girlfriend and I slightly contracted, if only for a moment.” Listen here:

Upcoming Tour and Album Info
As for the new entry, “blindness” is set for release on February 21 and is available for preliminary order here. This is the follow-up from the famous album of the Irish quintet of 2023 “Restoration of Gigi’s Recovery,” which arrived four years after their debut in a breakthrough with ‘When I Have Fears’.”
According to the new description, it should be a “record that is an important and charged impulse,” as well as one that is “intimate and at the same time expansive, (containing) 11 songs that the listener does not perceive from the perspective of capture.”
When the recording was first announced, McGovern spoke with NME about the origin of the album’s name: “There were several other names that almost caught fire for us, but they were quickly dismissed,” he explained.
“Blindness” turned out to be the only one, reflecting the themes throughout the record. This denial of faith is also a struggle with faith—and the underlying pain of Ireland passing through it.
“I think that blindness is actually endemic to the human condition. We are made of blind spots. We try to focus on things and meet each person, task and song with the most genuine heart. But at the same time, it is powerful to know how much you do not see.”
