New Single Release
Tay Shi has unveiled her first single of the year, titled “best to leave,” along with an announcement of two headline shows this spring.
About the Track
The latest track from the Canadian Colombian artist was penned during a creative retreat on Vancouver Island, Canada, in collaboration with Noah Beresty and Tommy Inglig. This single comes after her album ‘Valerie’ and a series of performances at jazz clubs in both New York and Los Angeles.
“It is best to leave” is a song about the necessity of letting go of those we love. It reflects the fact that sometimes relationships reach a point where departing is the best option,” Tay Shi explains. “Throughout our lives, we all say goodbye to someone or need to leave someone at various times. This is part of our journey through life and the world, and it was inspired by several important relationships in my life when I wrote this song. ‘It is best to leave’ is my bittersweet soundtrack to this realization.”
This release follows Tay Shi’s recent theatrical debut in “I Cannot Make Sense,” a play written by Vogue Giambri, which had five performances in New York. The production was inspired by Giambri’s experience of losing her mother in 2023 while touring with Tay Shi in support of Kimbra.
