Tech Startup Creative Covenant Unveils ARK: An IP Protection App for Content Creators

Los Angeles Technological Startup Launches New Application

Los Angeles-based technological startup Creative Covenant Inc. has launched ARK, a new application designed to protect intellectual property rights for “human creators” across various industries.

The platform utilizes blockchain technology and biometric authentication to assist artists, writers, musicians, and other creators in safeguarding their work in the digital age, as detailed in the press release.

Founders and Development Timeline

Founded by songwriter Jamie Hartman and screenwriter Ed Bennett-Coles, Creative Covenant has been developing ARK over a two-year period, with soft launches for mobile versions on iPhone and Android earlier this year. The company is currently working on a desktop application, aiming to introduce a subscription model this summer.

“An ARK is not just a tool—it’s a movement. We equip human creators with the necessary tools to protect their work, defend their rights, and build stable careers in industries where IP protection is frequently ignored or insufficient,” Bennett-Ceres stated.

The startup received funding from venture capital firm Claritas Capital and has established a strategic partnership with the rights organization Imt. BMI plans to provide its members with exclusive access to ARK this summer through the recently launched Spark program, which supplies resources and tools for music creators.

“We equip human creators with the necessary tools to protect their work, defend their rights, and build stable careers in industries where IP protection is often overlooked or underdeveloped.”

Hartman, a four-time BMI Award winner and former IVOR NOVELLO SONGWRITER of the Year, emphasized Creative Covenant’s commitment to safeguarding human creativity: “Our mission is straightforward: to ensure that the next generation of songs, along with all human creators, can thrive and be compensated for their ingenuity and hard work while protecting existing human intellectual property—seeds of innovation—for future generations.”

ARK includes several features aimed at safeguarding creators’ rights, such as secure non-disclosure agreements, intellectual property tracking, blockchain-based verification, and biometric security measures. Creative Covenant asserts that these offerings will help creators assert their rights without necessitating technical expertise.

“The amount of music that will be released weekly in two years, and the volume that will be created by AAAA is much greater than what most people understand.”

Launching ARK amid rising concerns regarding the impact of AI on artists is particularly timely, especially as AI-generated content grows increasingly sophisticated, raising fears about ownership, attribution, and compensation. Several lawsuits have already been initiated against AI companies for alleged unauthorized use of artists’ IP.

Lucas Keller, President of Talent Management at Milk & Honey Music + Sports, who facilitated the partnership with BMI, remarked: “ARK enables our clients to confidently ensure their work is protected. The volume of music set to be released weekly in two years and what will be created by AAAA vastly exceeds what most people realize. I firmly believe that ARK is a solution for human contributions to art and the defense of our IP.”

Creative Covenant also highlights that Harvard Business School has acknowledged the relevance of ARK technology, presenting it as a compelling business case.

ARK positions itself within the competitive landscape of IP management solutions. The intellectual property software management market was valued at $12.30 billion in 2024, and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 12.9% from 2025 to 2030, according to Grand View Research.
