Taylor Swift Wrote a Charity Song for Ellen Pompeo’s “Boy’s Eye” After Just a 20-Minute Meeting

Gray Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo expressed her gratitude for Taylor Swift’s generosity, revealing that the megastar made a donation to a charity she is involved with just moments after they met.

The two collaborated when Pompeo featured in the music video for the hit “Bad Blood” in 2014. During an appearance on Show Jennifer Hudson, the actor reminisced about the encounter that led to Swift’s donation.

“At that time, my husband Chris and I were doing a lot of volunteering at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles,” she shared. “They have an amazing program in which they create music for children in the intensive care unit. For parents who have to work all day and cannot be with their children, they record their voices singing children’s rhymes or telling them stories, which are played for babies on the days when parents cannot be there. Children respond positively to this, improving their recovery.”

She continued, “This is a really great program, but they need funding to sustain it. I asked Taylor: ‘Could you write me a big check for the children?’ Within just 20 minutes, without hesitation, this girl wrote me the largest check.”

In another part of the interview, she reflected on her experience shooting the “Bad Blood” music video, where she shared the screen with Law and Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay. “I didn’t know her initially… She invited me to be in the video, and I thought it would be fun,” she said, adding, “Honestly, it was the easiest thing; it took just an hour or two.”

Taylor Swift had previously been associated with Gray Anatomy when her song “White Horse” was featured in the fifth season. Last year, show producer Shonda Rhimes recalled how the singer performed barefoot in her office.
