In 2025, Record Store Day will celebrate its 18th edition, showcasing over 270 independent record stores across the nation, alongside thousands globally. As per tradition, the event will feature in-store celebrations and a festival of independent record store culture.

Last year’s Record Store Day was held on April 20 and included releases from iconic artists such as David Bowie, Daft Punk, Talking Heads, Paramore, Blur, Lily Allen, Gorillaz, Elton John, and Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds.

In related news, a select group of British vinyl stores will be featured in a new YouTube series titled Behind the Counter. The 12-part series will premiere weekly on Tuesdays leading up to Record Store Day, showcasing the vibrant culture surrounding various independent record stores.

Furthermore, the Key Production Group has initiated a scheme for recycling unused vinyl records and CDs, supported by British indie music stores. Vinyl and CDs are composed of different types of plastic—vinyl from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and CDs from polycarbonate—both of which can take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills.
