Tamara returns with new single
Tamara and Dreams are back with their latest single 'Successful bisexual', marking their first release since 2022.
The inspiration behind the song
The latest track from the Indi-Pop project based in Melbourne was written as frontman Tamara traveled through the Greek Islands. The song delves into the themes of persecution, personal experience, and the perception of desire, while simultaneously addressing the anxiety related to the passage of time.
“I wrote ‘Successful Bisexual’ during my backpacking trip in the Greek Islands. After years of feeling uncomfortable in my own skin, I finally felt like myself – confident, empowered, and independent, as if I had truly ‘grown up,’” Tamara explains.
The release of the track encountered a delay following a personal tragedy, as Tamara received the heartbreaking news of her mother’s sudden passing while traveling through Europe. “Just as I was set to launch the song, I was informed that my mother, my best friend, had passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm,” she recounts.
“I aimed to capture that feeling of not wanting time to end, the fear of leaving youth behind, and the societal pressure to ‘grow up’ and stop truly living,” adds Tamara. “The lyrics emphasize the notion of ‘another year’ repeating, and I sought to convey the urgency and limitations of life, highlighting the fear of aging but also recognizing that time is life’s greatest gift.”
“Now, this song about the fear of aging and the yearning to fully experience life takes on new meaning, as you never know what life has in store. I no longer fear aging; I understand it’s a privilege that not everyone has, and I want to make the most of every day I get to live.”
