SZA Announces Release Date for “LANA”

SZA Confirms Release Date of Expanded Lana

SZA has confirmed the release date for the expanded version of Lana.

Album Details and Upcoming Tracks

The album was initially released in December after nearly a year of speculation regarding its launch. Rather than being a standalone project, it serves as a deluxe edition of her SOS album from 2022.

Shortly after Lana’s release, SZA announced that “updated mixes” and “new songs” from the album will be available on streaming services starting January 6, coinciding with the return of her record label’s staff from their Christmas break. However, those new tracks were not released at that time.

Now, the artist known for “Broken Watch” has quietly confirmed that the songs will be made available today (February 9) at 7:00 PM Eastern Time (February 10 at 12:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time). This announcement was made through her official site, rather than her social media channels, where she previously shared updates.

The songs will debut simultaneously with her appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show today, where she will perform as a special guest alongside Kendrick Lamar. Lamar also contributed to the track “30 to 30,” which followed SZA’s surprise single “GNX” released a month ago.

The duo is set to embark on a joint North American tour later this year.

Achievements and Upcoming Projects

SOS has garnered nine Grammy nominations and achieved number one on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as number two on the UK singles chart. It has also been certified 3X Platinum in the United States. NME described it as “an album of return, well worth the wait,” awarding it a five-star review.

In other news, SZA’s new romantic comedy One of Them, co-starring Keke Palmer, is set to hit UK cinemas on March 7, following a positive reception in the United States.

This film marks the first major black comedy with a rated R classification from a major studio since 2017’s Girl Trip. It has recently become an unexpected hit in the U.S., outpacing the horror movie Wolf Man to secure the second spot at the box office, just behind Mufasa: King of the Lion. The film currently boasts a 95-percent “fresh” rating from critics on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
