Local media reported that the incident occurred on Thursday night (December 19) in Norrkoping, a city located southwest of the Swedish capital, Stockholm.

Ongoing Investigation

In a statement released yesterday (December 20), local police indicated that they were investigating the suspected murder of a man in his 20s, who died from injuries sustained in the shooting.

A video that allegedly shows the incident has circulated online, depicting a man being shot while fleeing in a parking lot. Swedish police have not confirmed the video’s connection to the shooting but stated it forms part of their investigation, as reported by a local newspaper, Aftonbladet.

Gun Violence in Sweden

Over the past two decades, Sweden has shifted from having one of the lowest gun crime rates in Europe to one of the highest, as reported by CNN.

In 2021, another Swedish rapper, Einar (real name Nils Kurt Erik Einar Grönberg), was fatally shot in an attack believed to be linked to gang violence. He was just 19 years old. Earlier this year, another rapper, C. Gambino (real name Qarar Ramadan), was shot dead in a garage located in Gothenburg.

In 2022, Khouri was found guilty of misdemeanor drug offenses, according to BBC News. Last month, the local newspaper Norrköping Tidningar claimed that the rapper was affiliated with a criminal gang.

Tributes have poured in from fellow musicians, including Swedish DJ Alan Max, who shared a photo of himself and Khoury on social media with the caption: “No words” (translated from Swedish).

Rapper Imenella also expressed his condolences with the words: “Rest in peace.” Additionally, Swedish TV presenter and former police officer Nadim Ghazaleh shared a statement regarding the circulation of the alleged footage, expressing horror at its spread on social media, particularly TikTok. He urged parents to talk with their children about it, saying: “This is so disgusting that I have no more words.”
