Summer Walker praised Ciara for being the “big sister” and “mentor” she needed and for truly being a “girl.”

Ciara appeared on the third episode of Walker's Apple Music podcast Over it Radio to discuss their personal lives, music careers, and more. In a clip from the show, Walker thanked the “Goodies” star for helping her get through her public split from the London On Da Track producer in 2021.

“I just want to compliment you on being a big sister, a big mentor,” Walker said. “You really are the real deal if anyone ever has to wonder that. I was losing consciousness because of my daddy's bad mood. You know how it used to be on the Internet – I'm humble now and won't do it again because of you – but you called and contacted us.

“You're like, 'Girl, no!' Don't act like that. Don't do all this. At the end of the day, God will take care of everything and you can just focus on your career and being a great mom,” and I just wanted to say I appreciate it. I'll never forget it because in order to keep flying I had to cut it out. So, thank you.”

Ciara responded by saying she “appreciated” Walker's gratitude and reminded the Atlanta singer that she would “be here” for her. She also stated that women “need to celebrate each other, especially now, more than ever,” adding: “It's always been a statement, 'Now more than ever,' (but) we need each other, and this (support) is powerful.”

The two have worked together before. On her second studio album, 2021's Still Over It, Walker asked Ciara to say a prayer for the closing track, aptly titled “Ciara's Prayer.” A year later, they performed as a duet for the first time on the uplifting pop-R&B single “Better Thangs.”

Upcoming Projects

Walker Above this radio returned last year as part of promotions the singer's upcoming third studio album “Finally Over It”. It will be the latest installment in Walker's “Over It” album series, scheduled for release later this year.

Last October, she shared the album's lead single, the '90s neo-soul ballad “Heart of A Woman.” The music video, which was filmed less than two weeks ago, featured rapper NLE Choppa in a cameo as her love interest.

Meanwhile, Ciara celebrated the 20th anniversary of her iconic debut album Goodies last September with a limited edition vinyl release.

Ciara will also co-headline London's Mighty Hoopla festival with Kesha this summer. The “Oh” singer will take the stage on May 31st alongside other performers such as Big Freedia, Booty Luv, Jamelia, and more.
