Suede Unveils “Blond”: A Fusion of Scientific and Fantastic Lullabies

Suede Announces New Collection

The suede is set to release the Blicked previously unequipped track as part of its new collection of science fiction cradle.

Upcoming Double LP Details

The upcoming Double LP serves as a continuation of the 1997 Sci-Fi Lullabies collection, which featured b-sides from singles released from their first three albums.

Vol.2 was announced yesterday (February 6) as part of the extensive list for RSD ’25, which also includes exclusive vinyl drops from notable artists like Oasis, Charli XCX, Fred AGain, The Cure, Gorillaz, and Taylor Swift.

These releases will be available during the annual event’s 18th edition on Saturday, April 12.

In a social media announcement regarding the new installment of “scientific and fantastic lullabies,” Sosen stated: “This new collection includes 19 b-sides and bonus tracks from 1997 to 2023, supervised by Brett Anderson, and features an unreleased track titled ‘Blinded’.”

“This double LP will be pressed on transparent vinyl. Be sure to check it out—find your local independent participating record store at RecordStoreDay.co.uk.

The track “Blinded” was performed live only once in 2019 according to Setlist.fm.

Listing on the official sound recording site states: “Where ‘scientific and fiction’ left off after ‘Sedding’ (1996), ‘Volume 2’ compiles bonus tracks released from ‘Head Music’ in 1999 to ‘Autofiction’ in 2022.”

This collection also showcases a previously unreleased track, ‘Blippish,’ marking its debut here. Pressed as a double 140g transparent vinyl with full lyrics, “Sci-Fi Lullabies: Volume 2” is essential for Suede fans and collectors.

The first volume of Sci-Fi Lullabies peaked at nine on the UK Albums Chart and garnered critical acclaim upon its release. In 2021, NME highlighted the collection, calling for “the return of good old-fashioned b-sides.”

Brett Anderson and Co., as well as groups like Smiths and Oasis, were noted for their dedication to full packaging rather than focusing solely on individual tracks.

“All B-side albums from these bands competed with their official releases (looking at you, Sci-Fi Lullabies),” the report concluded.

In 2014, the compilation ranked third on NME‘s list of 30 must-have albums of “b-sides” and rarities. The review noted that B-sides from megahits like “Killing of a Flashboy,” “My Dark Star,” and “Europe is Our Playground” were on par with the best of Britpop.

During a conversation with NME around the release of their latest album, 2022’s Autofiction, frontman Anderson shared thoughts on future projects. “The next record we plan to write is going to be much more experimental,” he detailed.

“I don’t necessarily see an arc with (‘Autofiction’). You really have to take it one record at a time. I view those three records, particularly ‘Night Thoughts’ and ‘Blue Hour,’ as a cohesive group, but the next one will be entirely different.”

He continued by stating that Suede’s upcoming full-length album may push creative boundaries, saying, “I would like to believe our most audacious work is still ahead of us.”

“It’s an exhilarating prospect that our band, at this stage in our career, is not merely opting to repeat the same formulas. I thrive on creating new notes; that makes me excited to wake up each day.”

Last summer, Suede announced that recording for their new album, titled “Noisy,” “Unceed,” and “RAW,” has begun. They debuted a new track called “Antidepressants” at the Isle of Wight festival in June.

Last year, Suede celebrated the 30th anniversary of their second album, 1994’s Dog Man Star, featuring bonus tracks from that era.

In other news, Sam Fender was appointed an official ambassador for Record Store Day UK. He will be releasing a new 12-inch vinyl EP featuring six tracks to commemorate “I and the Dog,” which includes two new songs.
