Song Impact and Inspiration

‘Ma meilleure ennemie’ was initially released as part of the Mysterious soundtrack for the second season, collaborating with Pomme, and has since amassed over 315 million streams on Spotify.

The track played during a pivotal moment in Mysterious, accompanying the dance between ECKO and Powder. “My first reaction when I saw that scene was honestly, I found it quite poetic,” shared Stromae.

“Even today, this song continues to resonate in people’s lives, and I think what transpired is truly magical … I understood the reaction and enthusiasm from fans because that episode was filled with beauty, romance, and tenderness.”

Director’s Vision

Tom Guill, the director from Fortiche Productions, spoke with NME about his vision for the music video. “Our ambition was to merge its fabulous world with the aesthetics of the music video, incorporating the dance sequence from episode 207 while preserving its beauty and impact,” he explained.

“To achieve this, we chose to blend live-action methods with stylized rendering. Mysterious‘s essence remained intact,” he added. “We also incorporated distinctive elements of the music video, such as ECKO and Powder singing back to back with strobe effects. This choice fosters a sense of continuity, referencing earlier moments.”

“While the overall visual identity is closely tied to the series’ artistic direction, we enhanced the color gradients to amplify emotional expression. Warm reds symbolize love and tenderness, whereas cool tones like blues and greens convey distress and internal struggles.”

The second and final season of Mysterious premiered last year, yet more content related to League of Legends is in the works. Regarding the decision to conclude the series, co-creator Christian Linka stated: “From the very beginning, we envisioned a specific ending for this project. However, Mysterious is merely the first of many tales we aim to tell in Runeterra.”

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that a deluxe version of the Mysterious soundtrack for the second season will be released in the coming months. This announcement coincided with the haunting rendition of “What They Did With Us” by Sasha Alex Sloan. Riot Games has confirmed that the album is set to release in April.
