Spotify Enhances Concert Discovery with New Stager Integration

Spotify Partners with Stagger

Spotify has integrated events with the Dutch platform, enabling venues and festivals to showcase their events directly on the pages of Spotify Artists, enhancing their concert detection features.

Founded in 2012, Stagger allows event organizers to access ticketing services, planning software, and marketing tools. Stagger announced its Spotify partnership in a recent LinkedIn post.

“We are enhancing our system with a robust new integration, which will allow all our Stagger users to list the artist’s upcoming events in their venue or festival directly on their Spotify Artist page,” said Stagger.

Impact of the Integration

Stagger claims that last year, it facilitated performances for over 21,000 artists at various venues and festivals using their platform. The Spotify integration “now opens up significant potential for event organizers to reach interested audiences on Spotify and sell more tickets through Stagger,” added Stagger.

While Spotify has not issued an official announcement regarding Stagger’s partnership, it reflects the platform’s continued expansion into live music. Earlier this year, Spotify entered a partnership with ticket platform Eventix and Weeztix. In February, both companies collaborated on an exclusive pre-sale for the metal group Panther. Following this, Spotify launched a personalized ‘Concerts Near You’ playlist for its users last month.

Earlier this month, Spotify finalized partnerships with the British ticket platform Burial to merge digital music consumption with live event attendance. This partnership allows Spotify users to explore concerts, club nights, and festivals featuring their favorite artists directly through the artists’ profiles.

Continued Expansion and Challenges

Spotify has been broadening its concert offerings in recent years. In 2020, it collaborated with the Discovery Concert application Soncik and acquired Warner Music Group in 2017 to introduce a feature for listing virtual events on its platform.

In 2022, Spotify launched a “Live Events” feed, replacing its previous ‘Concert Hub’ feature. Also in 2022, the company began testing ticket sales directly to fans via the “Spotify Tickets” website.

However, Spotify has faced challenges with its direct ticket initiatives. The company scaled back its ticket sales efforts in 2024, shifting its strategy to focus on integrations with third-party companies. Last year, Spotify added Bandsintown listings alongside its existing integrations with Ticketmaster, EventBrite, Soncik, and Axes.

Meanwhile, Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino recently confirmed that negotiations are underway regarding ticket collaborations with Spotify, Apple, and Amazon.

“We are working with all three (Spotify, Apple, and Amazon), trying to develop a model that works for us and for them, and (we) believe they are also in discussions with others,” Rapino stated in February.

Bloomberg previously reported that Spotify is planning to launch a ‘Super Pro’ tier later this year, which would provide early access to concert tickets, alongside features like AI remixes and premium audio quality.
