New Single Release
Sports Team have unveiled their latest single, “Bang Bang Bang,” which provides a commentary on gun culture in America. Check it out below.
Musical Production and Themes
Produced by Mathais Tellez (Girl In Red, CMAT, Gracie Abrams), “Bang Bang Bang” begins with a Western guitar riff and a howl. Simultaneously, frontman Alex Rice intones: “And little Jimmy gets a B in math / and two shots to the head / Washington gets dinner dates and fancy IPAs / and Newton still gets robocalls / From the NRA,” framing gun culture in the US from an outsider’s perspective.
Directed and produced by Sports Team themselves, the accompanying visuals feature a dancing man clad in a red T-shirt and jeans, interspersed with clips of the Cambridge six relaxing in a white studio.

Since its release, the track has taken on a more profound and darker significance for the band, as what was initially an outsider’s view of gun culture in America now resonates more closely after they were recently robbed at gunpoint during their first date on their US tour.
On December 3, 2024, Sports Team shared a video on their Instagram account showing armed men breaking into the group’s van at a café. “Just got robbed at gunpoint 10 minutes into a US tour. Stopped for coffee. A man runs in and says some guys are crashing into a van. I rushed out to try and stop it and encountered masked guys searching the van. When I started screaming, they pulled out a gun. The police response was: ‘Submit an online report.’ Lost a lot of personal equipment, but thankfully, none of our instruments, so we proceeded to Sacramento to play tonight,” read the video caption.
“They can take away our Nintendo Switches, but they can never take away our ability to play rock songs about highways. It’s honestly shocking how resigned everyone is to this. ‘Happens’. 9 am at some Starbucks gas station. Wild,” he continued.
