Spacey Jane announces new album
Spacey Jane has revealed their third studio album “If That Makes Sense”, which will be released through Concord on May 9th. The Australian indie rock quartet also unveiled a new single, “All the Noise.”
Production and themes of the record
Produced by Mike Crossey (The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Wolf Alice), the album includes contributions from songwriters Jackson “Day Wave” Phillips and Sarah Aarons. The record delves into themes of relationships, trauma, and recovery.
“This album does not pretend to be anything specific. Sometimes it is confident, and other times it whispers about insecurity. It captures the contradiction of forgiveness and anger, love and breakup, and that’s the essence I tried to reconcile in the title,” the band states. “It’s difficult to pinpoint a theme beyond an overwhelming sense of confusion and a not entirely successful attempt to make ends meet. We traveled to the USA, took a chance on new collaborators, and wrapped up the recording with our own resources, without an official label. Each day felt like a leap off a cliff, yet we loved every moment, and we’ve never been more satisfied with our work than we are now.”
Regarding “All The Noise,” frontman Caleb Harper shares: “This track was largely crafted in a hotel room in Sydney when we returned to Australia for the first time in six months. There was something about being underwater once more that made my own life story feel incredibly vivid. It expresses anger—not directed at anyone—and sadness from my inability to fully grasp what or who affected me. This might be my favorite Ashton riff, and it’s the strongest riff Peppe and Kieran have ever tackled. It’s going to be thrilling to perform live, and we’re genuinely excited to present our first new music in over a year.”
