Casagrande performs in a full mask, reminiscent of Jordison’s iconic mask, which features a bullet on the forehead.

“I created the mask with a clown,” he stated on the Modern Drummer Podcast. “The first thing he asked was, ‘Can we have a white mask for you?’ This was the first thing that brought back Joey’s memory, respecting his legacy. I proposed adding black lines to honor the Brazilian indigenous peoples.”

“This reflects both my Brazilian roots and culture. However, the design of my expression was crafted by a clown who observed me without a mask and said, ‘This is how you look when you play music. So we will incorporate that into your mask.’

Personal Experience

He shared the story behind the bullet hole in his mask: “Two years ago, I was mugged in Sao Paulo. While walking in my neighborhood at 9 AM, two guys on motorcycles stopped me, pointed a gun at my head, and demanded my phone and backpack. That experience changed me. Thankfully, they didn’t pull the trigger, and I consider myself lucky.”
