Sleigh Bells Unveils New Album “Bunky Becky Birthy Boy” Featuring “Come Oper” Track

New album announcement

Sleigh Bells have announced their upcoming album titled “Bunky Becky Birth Boy”, set to be released through MOM+Pop. This announcement comes on the heels of their recent single from the Brooklyn Noise Pop Duo, “Wanna Start a Band?”.

Inspiration behind the title

This recording marks their first effort since 2021 in Texas and takes its name from singer Alexis Krauss’ late dog, Riza. “When she died, Alexis and I talked about writing the anthem for her,” explains producer and guitarist Derek Miller. “And then the son of Alexis Wilder was born, and he is a boy, a birthday.”

“While the name may sound a bit absurd – and it certainly invites laughter – with a little context, it embodies the themes of life and death. We lost someone we cherished and welcomed someone new whom we love,” Miller adds.

The duo has kicked off the album rollout by sharing the first track. Miller describes the new song: “We aimed for the track to evoke the feeling of a dog experiencing the pinnacle of happiness, free from any self-consciousness. The Bunky Pop theme infused the entire record, and Benkinskaya Becky emerged as a character interwoven into every song. We introduced her friend, Rick Rick, to play with a blend of autobiography and fiction.”

The album features eleven tracks, including the previously released single “Wanna Start a Band?”.
