Sleigh Bells’ Upcoming Album Release
Sleigh Bells has unveiled the third track from their forthcoming seventh album, titled “Bunky Becky Birth,” which is set for release this summer.
Collaboration and Inspiration
This Shumopop duo, comprised of producer/guitarist Derek Miller and vocalist Alexis Krauss, has crafted this new album as a follow-up to their 2021 release, *Texis*.
“We joked about writing our take on a summer anthem, but since 2025, we wanted to give it a unique twist. While we aren’t comparing ourselves to other groups, Derek referenced cars and the Ramones while working on the entry, verses, and initial chorus, and I drew inspiration from the Shangri-Las, reflecting on newcomers who might not have been exposed to what we create. That’s what we all deserved,” said Krauss and Miller.
Personal Significance of the Album Title
The album’s title holds personal significance for the duo, signifying loss and new beginnings. Miller elaborates: “Becky Banks was a nickname for Alexis’s dog, Reese, who sadly passed away in December 2023. When she died, Alexis and I discussed writing an anthem in her memory. Then, Alexis’s son, Wilder, was born, symbolizing a new beginning for us. Despite the somewhat humorous title, it’s all meaningful — we’re celebrating someone very special to us.”
