Recent Work and Future Prospects
In 2023, Skrillex released two albums: “Quest for Fire” and “Don’t Get Too Close.” The former earned a three-star review from Ben Jolly at NME, stating, “Binding the past and present while setting the stage for the future of music, Skrillex remains a force in modern music.”
Following the release of his LPs, he teamed up with Fred again… and Four Tet for a surprise performance at Madison Square Garden at the last minute. He then filled in at Coachella 2023 after Frank Ocean dropped out.
Last year, he hinted to fans that more material was on the way during Quincy Jones’ online day. “He came to one of my shows and spent time to chat afterward… I will never forget it. He is my absolute hero, and his passing has definitely put some things in perspective for the future,” he wrote. “I’ve never felt more inspired and aligned with my intentions as an artist. As I come close to completing my next work and my last project for Atlantic Records, I can’t help but feel a sense of existential reflection in all of this.”
