Shura Releases New Single “Richardson,” Inspired by the Journey of Walking, Reflection, and Seeking Comfort

New single from Shura

Shura has unveiled a new single titled Richardson, featuring the talented New York singer-songwriter Cassandra Jenkins. This track is part of her upcoming album, “I Bet Seard for my friends.”

Songwriting journey

This song marks a significant shift in Shura’s songwriting process, as it is the first composition she penned alone on the acoustic guitar since her childhood.

“I fell in love with Cassandra’s record at a low point in my life. It was like a chair I could crawl into. It accompanied me on long walks in my apartment in Greenpoint,” Shura explains.

“I always knew I wanted to collaborate with Cassandra on something. After a few discussions, we both realized that this song was meant to be. Cassandra’s voice accompanied me during those walks, making it a song about introspection and seeking comfort.”

Jenkins shares her perspective: “I was drawn to Richardson because it encapsulates a mood that’s hard to define, reflecting the place and a sort of suspended thought, no matter where we go. I appreciate how this collaboration has developed a meta-connection between us, exploring how we communicate with loved ones when we are apart, whether due to circumstances, time, or geography. It’s as if we were friends floating through space long before we met.”

The album, titled “I felt too sad for my friends,” was produced by Lucian Smith and features additional contributions from Bekka Mankari and Helado Negro. It follows her 2019 release, Forevher, and is set for release on May 30 through Sam’s revival.
