Sharon Van Etten and The Attachment Theory Unveil Their New Single “Southern Life (What It Must Be Like)”

Sharon Van Etten’s New Album Details

Sharon Van Etten and Attachment Theory have revealed the details of their self-titled debut album and premiered a new single, “Southern Life (As It Should Be).”

This track serves as the second teaser for their upcoming album, set to release on February 7 through Jagjaguwar, following their first single, “Afterlife.”

Insight on the New Single

“Southern Life (As It Should Be)” represents an effort to understand individuals with significantly different viewpoints and experiences, while also fostering compassion for our past, present, and future,” Van Etten explains.

The song emerged during a jam session in Yucca Valley. “After days of rehearsing and performing the album’s songs, I found myself weary of hearing my own sound. I didn’t want to over-rehearse. So, for the first time, I asked the band if they wanted to ‘jam’ and just play freely to clear our minds.”
